Freedom Route Tiel – Wamel

This route takes you past places where the impact of the Second World War can still be felt. You begin in Tiel at the outdoor exhibition next to Zinder, where stories from the war years are told. Taking the ferry, you cross the Waal River to Wamel, where the second exhibition teaches you more about the history of the Land van Maas en Waal. From there, you cycle along the dyke, with the river as a silent witness to the past. At Varik, you cross the river again and follow the road through the vast Betuwe landscape.
